Recovering and returning to work from experiences of depression or anxiety is nuanced and often challenging. But we can help!
In this webinar, Dr Megan Woods and Dr Kelly Broughton introduce two new suites of free, evidence-based and research-informed return-to-work support resources: one for the person returning, and one for supervisors and managers. Developed with funding from the WorkCover Board of Tasmania, the resources are specifically designed to help people returning to work, and supervisors supporting that process, achieve a safe and successful return to working.
Using a fictionalised return to work case study, Kelly and Megan will showcase how the resources support the recovery period, planning the return, and implementing the return-to-work plan.
Whether you are a manager, an injured worker looking to re-engage with your employment, the webinar will help you understand where to access these newly launched resources, how you can use them to prepare, assist and support the recovery and return to work processes, and the best ways to implement them to enable a safe and successful return to work.
Dr Megan Woods and Dr Kelly Broughton
Kelly: Dr Kelly Broughton is a specialist in workplace health and safety, with expertise in physical and psychological injury, return-to-work experiences, and the influence of compensation systems on worker wellbeing. Her doctoral research examined employee experiences of returning to work following injury, identifying key factors that shape return-to-work outcomes.
Kelly has contributed to a range of projects focused on improving return-to-work resources, psychosocial hazard regulation, workplace mental health, and workers’ compensation processes, including consultancy work reviewing workplace rehabilitation accreditation. Her work has strengthened understanding of occupational rehabilitation and informed approaches to improving work and wellbeing outcomes.
Kelly has since shifted her focus to industry and regulation and currently works as a Senior Compliance Specialist in Workers’ Compensation at WorkSafe Tasmania.
Megan: Dr Megan Woods is a coach, consultant and adjunct Senior Lecturer at the University of Tasmania with internationally-recognised expertise in workplace mental health and return to work. As the founder and heart of Flourishing Phoenixes she specialises in supporting professionals to move through – and on from - toxic and depleting work-related experiences, and in helping individuals and organisations achieve safer and more successful return to work. She does this by providing 1:1 coaching for people returning to working, and for managers supporting workers to return. In collaboration with Worker Assist Tasmania she also hosts free monthly in-person workshops for injured workers in Hobart, to provide a safe and inclusive space for social connection and peer support. Additionally, as co-director of One Safe Tasmania she provides training, resources and consultancy support to Tasmanian small and medium businesses about workplace mental health, injury management and return to work.
