If you have received compensation for an asbestos-related disease under other laws, you are not entitled to asbestos compensation for the same disease.
If you receive compensation under other laws after receiving compensation under the Tasmanian asbestos compensation scheme, you may be required to re-pay an amount to the Asbestos Compensation Commissioner.
If you have received asbestos compensation under the Tasmanian asbestos compensation scheme and then receive compensation under other laws, you must:
- notify the Commissioner within 20 business days of receiving the other compensation
- complete and submit Form 7: Notice of Receipt of Compensation Under Other Legislation (PDF, 306.7 KB) to the Commissioner.
Failure to do so may result in you being penalised.
