In Tasmania, the transport of dangerous goods is regulated through:
- the Dangerous Goods (Road and Rail Transport) Act 2010
- the Dangerous Goods (Road and Rail Transport) Regulations 2010.
These laws refer to the Australian Dangerous Goods Code (ADG Code), which sets out the operational and technical requirements in the management of dangerous goods transportation.
The ADG Code is updated every two years, with a one year transition period for each edition.
Edition 7.7 of the ADG Code can be used from 1 October 2020 and is compulsory from 1 October 2021. Until then, either the Code edition 7.6 or the Code edition 7.7 can be used.
This edition includes changes specific to the Australian environment.
The ADG Code should be read in conjunction with Tasmanian laws listed above, which have important information on licence requirements.
