The Better Work Tasmania program provides free forums to industry to improve work health and safety performance and better return to work outcomes.

These forums are an opportunity to meet industry leaders and others in your field or area of interest, and discuss safety challenges and solutions.

The Better Work Tasmania program has been running since 2015 and is funded by the WorkCover Board Tasmania.

Recent events

In 2022-23, there were three networking forums held:

  • Medical Information Landscapes Networking Forum: examined the current approach to medical information gathering, the strengths and weaknesses, important principles, and potential improvements that align with supporting a worker’s recovery and the objectives of Tasmania’s workers compensation scheme. Presented by The Tasmanian Workers Compensation Stakeholder Group and held on 27 September 2022 at the Hobart Hotel Grand Chancellor and virtually, with over 300 people attending
  • Asbestos Awareness Networking Forum: supported National Asbestos Awareness Week and explored where asbestos can be found, how to manage asbestos, and the health risks and impacts of asbestos exposure. Collaborating with Asbestos Free Tasmania and held on 23 November 2022 at the Hobart Hotel Grand Chancellor Hobart and virtually, with almost 120 people attending
  • Mines Safety Networking Forum: discussed the high risks of working around voids/open stopes, and shared best practice risk controls that are currently being used. Held on 24 May 2023 at the Rosebery Football Club, with almost 40 people from the mining industry attending.
