Managing the risks of respirable crystalline silica from engineered stone in the workplace

Effective in Tasmania on and from 19 January 2022

The code of practice Managing the risks of respirable crystalline silica from engineered stone in the workplace:

  • provides practical guidance on how to manage the health and safety risks associated with respirable crystalline silica from engineered stone, and how to achieve the standards required under the work health and safety laws
  • applies to all types of work and all workplaces where engineered stone is worked or used and anyone involved in these activities
  • covers the risk management process
  • covers safe work method statements for engineered stone, workplace exposure standards, air/health monitoring
  • covers control measures including silica dust control plans, clean up and disposal of silica dust (including management of water and waste)
  • includes a silica dust control plan template.
