EMDR for workplace trauma: healing minds, restoring wellbeing

Workplace trauma from accidents, harassment, or chronic stress can profoundly affect employee wellbeing, productivity, and organisational culture. Grounded in neuroscience and trauma-informed care principles, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) offers an evidence-based pathway to healing. This session bridges research and practice, giving attendees actionable strategies that can support employees and create psychologically safe workplaces.

The session will begin by outlining the neuroscience behind EMDR, explaining how bilateral stimulation can facilitate the brain’s natural healing processes. We will delve into practical applications of EMDR in workplace settings, and its effectiveness in treating trauma from workplace accidents, harassment, or chronic stress. Case studies will highlight real-world examples of EMDR’s impact on individuals and teams. This session includes an interactive activity where participants will experience a simplified version of EMDR (e.g., guided eye movements or tapping) to understand its calming effects. Additionally, a Q&A to address common misconceptions and practical considerations for implementing EMDR in workplace wellbeing initiatives. By the end of the session, attendees will leave with actionable insights to develop a trauma-informed workplace culture and promote long-term wellbeing.
