Open cab loader
There is an open cab loader. The loading process generates a large amount of dust, to which the loader operator is exposed. The loader operator uses a disposable respirator to protect him from the dust.
Ore transport
Trucks transport the ore from the stope to the ROM pad. The trucks stir up dust from the floor and the sidewalls of the decline. The dust is picked up by the intake airflow and transported to the working areas.
The service crew
The service crew is replacing some damaged ventilation ducting. The job is expected to last one hour. Removing the old ducting creates a large amount of airborne dust. The service crew are not wearing respirators, as they believe their exposure to any silica dust is too brief to cause harm.
