COVID-19 best practice guidelines for the building and construction industry
David Solomon (Master Builders Association New South Wales) will provide a brief overview of the MBA’s COVID-19 guidelines developed for the NSW building and construction industry. These are regarded as some of the most contemporary, easy to implement controls available. Matt Pollack (Master Builders Tas) will support this presentation.
Bluehats: A Tasmanian mental health program in the construction industry
Nicole Well will introduce Incolink’s suicide prevention initiative for the construction industry, Bluehats. It was officially launched in Tasmania in February 2020. Incolink sees Bluehats as being part of the solution to suicide in construction.
Crane safety in the construction industry
Prof Helen Lingard (RMIT Centre for Work Health and Safety) will cover a comprehensive model of crane safety incident causation based on extensive research and consultation with industry experts. This model will be presented and the ways that it can be used to improve safety of crane operations in the construction industry will be discussed.
Mental health champions in the workplace: Options for implementation
Many businesses are reviewing or implementing a network of staff who are nominated as mental health champions or officers within their workplaces. Clare Pearson (OzHelp) will outline some different implementation options.
